According to CCC, this is the lowest price on Amazon (with Amazon as the seller) since at least October 2010 (and gives 12/18/2016 as its lowest price ever at $45.00).

where i could see the double joint being useful is getting the pliers in a very tight space, and joint #1 would be right at the opening. so when you open the pliers, you're not hitting anything since it's at the pivot point, and the 2nd joint on the other side expands. it's a neat design, i'm just really trying to figure out when i would need something like this. everything i work on i'm able to access in some way or another

the HFs are single joint.
i wouldn't waste the extra $ on these for the minor difference.
unless i had tons of $ to throw at something i'll use maybe 2x/y.
