I had a 6 month old pro. One night I did an update and woke up to a black screen. I thought the battery was dead. I charged and nothing. I started looking on the internet and found that I had the Black Screen of Death. Took it in to Genius and he told me would replace but didnt have in stock. Waited week and never heard from Apple. Called and they said had in stock. Went in and gave my pro to the Genius and he came back and said ok you owe 360. I was stunned. I asked why. He stated that I had a very small sized nick in the metal band that goes around the screen. This nick was about the size of a pin head. This tablet had worked fine until the update. Google this problem and you will find that it's an Apple problem. I said the first Genius had no problem and was going to replace for free. He said that under Apple warranty Any damage negates the warranty. It doesnt matter if it's a known problem or not. 6 months old and 700 dollars later, I have a piece of Apple crap in my toilet. Come on Apple, you take our money but you look for every way possible to get out of your responsibility. Hey wait a minute, maybe I was holding it wrong!
I seriously doubt we will be seeing a new iPad Pro model later this year. The latest version was just released in March 2020. This was first update to the Pro model since the prior release in November 2018.
That being said, no clue if refurb price on these 2018 models will further decline later this year.
This doesn't sound true. I used to work at the Genius Bar and if we didn't have something in stock we setup a repair order. Once you sign that repair order it locks in the cost, free or charge. So when you pick it up all you do is sign.

I imagine these drop more after their 2 year anniversary in October. I'm still using my 2016 iPad Pro 128gb and have been hesitant to upgrade.
Any reason I shouldn't wait until October? Maybe a new iPad comes out this fall?

These refurbs are often offered on Apple.com (along with refurb iPad Air 3 for around $400), so I wouldn't worry about this deal expiring. Apple Store gets an endless supply of returns.
