A $39.99/mo Fios internet service only becomes $29.99/mo, for instance.

But, Verizon has discounted wireless rates/monthly credits for special people like teachers, military, nurses, first responders, etc. Such discount is ONLY for the main account holder.
Check if you qualify.
But, you can pay for the Fios service with the Verizon eGift card rebate.
It does make the normally expensive Verizon service free for 6 months or longer, so if that's your goal and you know you're staying with them, then it's a good deal.

Another unrelated issue--I completed the order after linking to Verizon through the BF cb site. That was two days ago and I don't see any sign of cashback appearing in my BF account (I see visits to Verizon in my Shopping Trips but nothing under "Order Reported"). I know BF says it can take up to seven days to show up, but as I'd seen others say the cb appears quickly with BF, I'm worried that maybe the BF cookie didn't track properly. I'm thinking I might at least wait a few days before activating the lines to see if it shows up, but I'm not even sure that it's not too late to turn back now since I've already given all the port information (am I already under contract with Verizon even if I don't activate the sims?).
Fingers crossed I can resolve both issues. Thanks in advance for your help.
At this point I'll be pleasantly surprised if I get any CB from BFRGL, but I've resigned myself to going through with this deal nevertheless. I actually received an email yesterday from Verizon "thanking" me for activating service for one of my lines, even though I hadn't even opened the sim cards yet! Interestingly, after getting that e-mail, I was immediately able to register an account on Verizon online with the "activated" number (previously I had been unable to do so, getting a message that the number had to be active on Verizon's network in order to register it). I created the account and immediately setup the paperless and autopay options, so *hopefully* those will get credited to my first bill.
I went ahead and activated the *two* lines that were already showing as registered to my account--porting over from Sprint was immediate after inserting the Verizon sims and dialing *228. My other three lines are landlines (2 x Google Voice and a Number Barn) and those sims are not activating yet, but that is not unexpected as landlines can take longer.
So, you'll have to acquire another BYOD compatible phone and have CS change the IMEI before you activate.
Later after all lines were active I took one of the sims and placed it in another phone that was Verizon compatible but not one of the originally assigned phones and all was OK.
I'll let you all know how it works out.

First, thanks for your detailed responses. When you changed devices, was it soon after activating the lines (before you got the rebate cards)? I thought I had read that you have to keep the same device active on the line for 45 days, or does that only apply to "upgrades" through Verizon? I still have to track down another BYOD-compatible device for the fifth line. Only other Verizon phone I have is a Galaxy S3 but it doesn't pass the BYOD checker, and I don't know if it will activate on the network anymore.
I'll let you all know how it works out.
1. On BFRGL, file a support ticket asap. If the CB does not appear in your account in 48 hours it will not in 7 days.
2. I never changed devices, it just took about a week to insert the sim to the phone that was in the other location, but that was the phone and its IMEI that was originally registered in the Verizon order.
The open market, unlocked (not prepaid) Motorola E6 is an inexpensive phone that's compatible with the Verizon system. It's sold at Walmart, Best Buy, ebay, etc.
To be accepted in the Verizon system, a phone must be VoLTE capable AND its IMEI must be in the Verizon database.
As of 1/1/2020 older Verizon phones not VoLTE capable, can no longer be brought into Verizon, and those already on Verizon will no longer work after 12/31/2020.
I have a phone I can use with the Ebay ATT number or try to use her IMEI if she allows. I think either way will work?
Hope this makes sense as she's going to read this. She won't believe me haha. So hopefully this will work. Just trying to add/port her in soon after signing up I guess. She's getting killed with single line Verizon. Ugh.

Regarding #2, I was referring to when you said "Later after all lines were active I took one of the sims and placed it in another phone that was Verizon compatible but not one of the originally assigned phones and all was OK." You did this before the 45 day mark from the initial phone activation?
Thanks.
Unless I'm missing something.

The cards should come within 5 weeks or so, but I got them before the first bill was due.
I then suspended auto pay for that month only and went to my account online and paid with the eGift card code. That way I did not lose the auto pay monthly discount.
To be on the safe side, estimate that the 1st month may have to be paid out of pocket.
Also, Read my other post #121 above here on suspending auto pay for one month only and another post #12 on a couple other ways to do it. without losing the monthly auto pay discount.
The other 2 ways look easier to do.

But you can do the ATTT # port in with your existing phone whose IMEI should pass the Verizon compatibility check first.
If she's currently with Verizon and wants to keep the existing # it requires porting it out somewhere else, maybe T-Mo, and then porting it in to replace your ATT #.
But that requires a bit of work and more $, and to be on the safe side should probably be done after you get the eGift card code.
Another possibility if she wants to keep the existing # is to port it to Google Voice, it costs $20, you send her the Verizon sim card with the ATT # and she can forward all her calls from her existing # that's now with Google Voice to the new ATT # that's now with Verizon.
