Good to see some deals on the new MBA. I ordered a i5/16GB/512GB end of last month through the Apple education site for $1379, which I believe is still available.

From what I read in the different forums, it looks like this i3 model is the one with almost no heating issues. All other models of MBA and MBP seem to have heating issues. That said, these heating issues are nothing major but for people who use these laptops on their laps it might matter. Again, I'm saying all these based on what I read on forums like macrumors, reddit and Apple forums. And again these heating issues are nothing major. Do your own research if you're curious.

What about fan issues? Is the fan constantly running on the i3?

From what I know, no. The fan rarely kicks off in i3.
