You could probably get a decent 10" saw for that price. If this was the battery 8 1/4table saw, this would be a different discussion. Not a hot deal, it's a compromise for a free stand
Not even close to being a $1000 retail. Where are you even getting that number from?
This Ridgid from home depot has received good praise and comes with a stand for $280:

Assuming the 8.25" saw has consistent pricing with the prior 10" versions this is probably as good a deal you will for a long time WITH the included stand. At this price range I do not believe you will find a better fence on a table saw.

You can definitely find the saw for less without the stand but then you will need to come up with something to support it at a comfortable height.

When will there be a good sale on the DWE7491RS? I narrowed my search down to this one for woodworking because I need the portability.

That one rarely goes on sale. I spent some time with my DW745 and my old 30" (extended) jobsite craftsman this weekend, cutting down some plywood. Neither was really any good for it, although the Dewalt was fine once the pieces got small enough. Pretty sure if I had the 7491 I'd still need some kind of out feed table. My next purchase will be a good quality circular saw.

Supposedly companies are moving away from 10" saws of this size. My understanding is that the UL certification changed the blade size to table size ratio. Now the compact saws coming out will have smaller blades.

The ACME tool page has the table saw stand listed as a $1000 list price. That's Invicta watch level of "retail prices".

That is a good price. I looked at this one before purchasing the DW745. I went with the Dewalt for two primary reasons: much better fence and significantly lighter in weight. I store my saw under a workbench so that was important to me. The LSA on the Ridgid saw is a huge selling point though.

I picked up that Ridgid saw a few months ago and I am really liking it. It is a 10 in blade and the table expands for I think up to 27 in cuts. I would recommend it.

Are Acme Tools and Acme Hardware store owned by same company?

Edit: Never mind, I got myself confused for Ace Hardware store 😀
