This product has 3 layers of material. Face lining is 100% Cotton for comfort. Middle layer is a coated non-woven fabric filtration barrier. Outer layer is 80% Poly/20% Cotton.

I think it depends on the value you put into the built-in in filter in this one. The target mask is three layers and a pocket for a filter.
I think if you wash it, you should be fine. At the end of the day it's just a third layer of fabric
