Went ahead and bought one. Not much sales in 2TB SSDs recently and this one is ~$13 cheaper + $10 GC

I am waiting for the crucial mx500 2tb, which came down to $200 earlier this year but then goes back to $230 or so now.

Most of the sales have been on 1TBs and the sales for those are just OK as well. In the end $5 more is not a big difference for me since I need the space.

Yeah the $5 is nothing (plus you get a $10 gc) and adata is a solid brand. I am considering mx500 for the 5-year warranty Wink

SSD Prices have remained completely FLAT for the last year. $100 / 1TB is unacceptable.

Why would they get any better?

Even before COVID, manufacturing was having issues keeping prices from lowering much if it all. Then after COVID, prices have gone up.

Something that wasn't a deal 4 months ago can be a deal today when prices are higher.

More and more states are requiring taxes even over online purchases or they're requiring businesses to reveal transactions so the state can estimate and charge you for tax evasion if you don't pay taxes.

I haven't bought anything from Newegg since it charged sales tax. I thought Newegg lost its competitive edge due to that. Why would I buy from Newegg?

Where are you buying from these days? The vast majority of retailers I have been buying stuff from charges tax nowadays. I keep track for use tax purposes.

Before the sales tax, I'd buy items from Newegg instead of BestBuy, because of the tax savings. Nowadays between Newegg and BestBuy, it's BestBuy. If I'll pay the same price and tax, BestBuy is easier with the returns. Newegg will charge restocking fees.

Newegg just doesn't have a competitive edge anymore.
