Wtf. You should wear only US made stuff then. I'm sure you'll be walking around butt naked all day everyday. Ridiculous.
Hahaha I like your comment, but there still business that make clothes in America and other products.

You have to be really careful. The adhesive stays sticky, but it's stuck to the rubber and can be removed. You have to make sure you're pulling the adhesive strip and the rubber... if the rubber gets separated you're screwed.
Thanks for the advice

If they are the same as the X360 Envy I had a couple of years ago (& they look like they are), they are sticky enough to go right back on. I sat them upside down/sticky side up on the table while I upgraded the laptop. Mine have never come loose, but if you look really closely, you can see that they are no longer perfectly straight since they were put on by human after a couple of beers rather than a robot.

In hindsight, warming w. a hairdryer would have probably made it easier to remove.
Thanks for the info

For the Costco price match, do you only get store credit back or whatever payment method you used?

Nice! Did you also have to remove the rubber strips to get to screws underneath to get it apart?
Yup, but it requires some care and patience. You must make sure to get your fingernail under the rubber AND adhesive, like I said, and it's even harder with this model than the other HPs I've seen. The rubber strip is very thin.

Cool, How much you put it in? 16G or 32G?

I ordered 16GB and coming tomorrow EOD from Amazon.
My memory's coming tomorrow too, I was just checking that it most certainly isn't soldered. I'm planning to put in 16gb. After this upgrade, the only downsides for me will be that prominent bottom bezel and the weight (which honestly isn't too bad for a 15 inch). I like this laptop very much so far.

Yeah but you said you haven't watch much videos yet right?
As of now, I've done everything up to gaming. I tried 4k60fps video, several updates, and multiple userbenchmark tests, but the only time the fan came on was when I updated the BIOS.

Sure the ram is upgradeable but the screen is not.
It's totally fine for me. I used AMD's Adrenaline application to manually turn the contrast up, and while that made me need to turn the brightness up even more, I'm still only at 80%-90% in a well-lit room. Plus the image quality looks very formidable now. Only way anyone would be able to notice this display's shortcomings is if they were used to a >300 nit/fully color accurate model.

Checked this laptop yesterday at Costco, poor build quality, felt like it will fall apart in few months if you constantly use it in different modes, also the screen is dim and poor color accuracy.

Spend couple of hundred more and buy a better laptop.

Edit:

There is a deal available for the same $599 price for a better Laptop:

BestBuy has Dell 7591, 15.6 FHD, Intel I5 10th gen, 8gb, 512gb, backlit KB, TB port for $599 with student deal coupon until tomorrow 06/21.

much better build quality than this HP

I've had this model for a while now and I must respectfully disagree. Despite that, do you have any suggestions for other people who might want to explore alternatives?

Not everyone has a "couple of hundred more" to just spend on a laptop.

This HP envy is a nice laptop especially with the Costco warranty.

A little heavy? Sure. Not color accurate enough for professional video or photo editing? Totally. But the build quality is a solid positive for me. Maybe our friend had just finished looking at a $2000 MacBook Pro or Dell XPS and this looked poor in comparison. This is a really good deal for $599 w/ Costco warranty. Whatever....

Any suggestions on upgrading to 16gb ram? What ones are you buying that would work with this laptop? Would this laptop be good for photo editing? Thank you!

Unfortunately the display isn't color accurate enough to photo edit, at least professionally. If it's a hobby it's okay though. The specs are certainly strong enough. Here's the RAM I bought:

Hovers around $70. You can find it elsewhere if you don't have an Amazon Prime membership.
