had full windows updates. Didn't try the HP updates. Doing it now
I have the same issue. Did the HP updates help with the video driver issue? When I looked at this laptop in the store, the webcam quality seemed pretty decent to me, but when I tried it tonight on the laptop I brought, the quality didn't match up.

All you people who are complaining about soldered Ram are now complaining about expandable 8gb ram not being 16gb... This is a good deal and the extra Costco warranty is a plus.
People are whiny bitches. Can't be pleased.

Thanks, guess I will stuck with no brightness control for a while. My ubuntu 20.04 is still at 5.4 and I am not gonna try to install the new kernel. that also means I erased Win 10 lol.
It's not hard just download the Debian pkg and install them and reboot. Also 5.7 references Renoir GPU http://ubuntuhandbook.org/index.p...inux-mint/

Is anyone planning to install Hackintosh on this laptop? I have had previous successes with Intel laptops and desktops, but have never attempted it on AMD.

I have heard of amd hackintosh machines, but obviously intel is better for that purpose. I wonder when will hackintosh go away because of arm processors.

I have a spare 2TB 2.5" SATA drive and someone mentioned there is a bay for one of those but a cable is needed. I plan on cracking mine open in the next couple of days to upgrade the RAM,and I'll try to figure out what cable and drive carrier would work (if any). I would also love to know if a second M2 drive is an option.
Me too. I couldnt find the sata or soave for one. Waiting for someone else to find another m2 also.

Does the rubber strip on bottom glued? Does it go back as original after upgrading ram. I have good credit and lot of other credit cards. Is it worth applying for Citi card to get extra 2 year warranty.

I got the credit card and use it for costco purchases, gas and resturants. So its worth it.

How do you get the 4 year warranty with the Costco card? Do you purchase the additional $99 3 year warranty that pops up or is it automatically included when you purchase it on the card?

2 years comes standard for all members + 2 additional years if purchased with a Costco Anywhere Citi Visa card.

My laptop came in yesterday and I've been messing around with it since last night. I currently have an HP Elitebook G3 14" through work and is my baseline.

Overall the laptop seems like a good value. I updates windows and all drivers and only had fan noise during the bios update. The computer starts up fast and has no problem running apps with some zip.

Of course with the price there has to be some concessions. The screen is a little dim, not unusable indoors by any means, but dim. (It should be noted that was my biggest worry and I wouldn't have an issue with it). The laptop seems "big". I thought I would want a nice big 15.6" screen with a full keyboard, but I'm not sure now that I have one. The 2 in 1 works fine, but it definitely isn't a 1 hand operation as some people prefer.

The biggest problem I have, and reason I am thinking about returning it, is the trackpad. When using the trackpad it seems to work just fine and the randomly stops as I get close to what I am going to. It is kind of hard to describe, but adjusting the sensitivity in windows hasn't resolved it yet. (Yes all drivers are up to date). I am going to let my wife mess around with it and see what she thinks.

Overall I think this laptop is great value for the money, especially since you can upgrade the RAM. I'm not 100% sure it will work for me, but I wouldn't hesitate suggesting it for others who need and average laptop and a great price.

Look bro we just want the best deal, I'd rather go for the Lenovo $599 on amazon at least you get 16gb off the bat and it is lighter by almost a pound..
It's lighter because the body is plastic and the screen is 14" vs 15.6", correct?

Very cool, yes windows works with OEMs to update Drivers. Most of the time, Windows will push latest drivers first as OEMs are slow in updating their support website.

Just a quick qns, did HP support s/w reinstalled HP Pen, HP Command center, Bang & Ol Audio Control software. There are bunch under HP. Probably won;t need all of them.
I have B & O audio and the pen works fine. You might have to reinstall HP Command Center, I don't seem to have that.

Exactly. That Flex 5 is better for someone who doesn't mind build quality and wants portability and smaller size.

Does changing the RAM void the warranty?
Yes when you open up the laptop for whatever reason the warranty will be void. I asked Costco tech at the store.
