Depend on how much you value longer warranty, the included pen, as well as 512gb vs 256gb. Just make sure you really test it the best buy very extensively because the open box could always be defective unit returned and the geek squad might not have been able to test them out very extensively. Some of these defects or glitches can be fairly subtle.

Is there any quick built in app i can use to test out the quality of the cam? I don't want to have to install a lot of software or trialware just to test it.. thanks.

Do you have to keep your costco membership up-to-date to receive that warranty?

If anyone is interested in upgrading the RAM for this laptop I just uploaded a video of myself doing it in-depth and I have a link to the 16GB kit I used in the description. I'm also going to link the tool kit I used which really helped out with the plastic tools.

https://youtu.be/2Xuf7hGzs68

Also you can see in my video that there is indeed an extra M.2 slot to add another hard drive. Not sure if its NVME or SATA type though.
Thank you! This is great! I will definitely be doing the RAM-e-pokey following your directions!

From the above video i cant seem to see any space for a regular 2.5 drive? Not that I actually care about 2.5. M2 is really the way to go! I will soon open mine. But it is great to see more and more laptops having two M2 slots as well as doing away with the 2.5.

I think if possible, we should find out if M2 slots are SATA and/or NVme. I've seen some only do one or other and not both. Ideally should do both but if not, then it should do nvme. also need to find out if the nvme slots are x2 or x4 for both slots.

Btw, if anyone is interested, these m2 nvme PCIe slots actually act like a regular PCIe slot a lot of time. Meaning you can actually plug in a real graphic card using adapter but obviously only at PCIe x4 link speed. Someone did that for the motile M142. Not very practical but is interesting to see.. See this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Su3WUNyYklE
I was watching this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-2VrxgI49Q to learn about the difference between NVME and SATA in the M.2 form. According the video, some manufacturers include M.2 slots that will accommodate either NVME or SATA (user choice) while some slots will only accommodate one or the other. Obviously performance-wise, NVME is preferred. Has anyone been able to confirm which it is? My gut tells me it will be NVME. I have another HP laptop and it also came with 2 NVME M.2 slots (second was not mentioned but when I opened the laptop, there is was and accommodated a 1TB NVME M.2 in addition to the smaller OS drive.)

I have some fan noise and wanted to get another laptop and try to see if I can keep that and return this one.
I know that the noise from fan is coming from either bearings or fan touching the outer layer and it's fairly easy and cheaper to fix. And I also took time to validate all the hardware is working fine.
I don't like returning stuff, but wanted to see if I'd try to get a perfect laptop and return the old one.
The new laptop I bought doesn't have parallel hinges. They're a little bent on both.
And when I tap the touchpad, its making a taping sound like it's touching something on the bottom. Maybe it's a little loose from the base.
So, I'm planning to return the new one with hinge and touchpad issues and keep the old one and deal with the fans later.

Any suggestions?

I was trying to check to see if the resolution was less, but it looked bad in nearly all resolutions.

I used the camera app and this website/
https://webcamtests.com/resolution

It's basically flip phone quality.

Someone earlier said they had to renew their membership for a warranty.

Wow I would return it for any single reason you had. Though my right hinge is now not straight but it still folds as if it was new.

Can anyone recommend a good pen to go with this laptop? The HP one seems pretty unresponsive to me.
Is it laggy or not work?

It has a little delay on it.

Nstarz, can you run prime95 and hwinfo64 on this hp ryzen 5 4500u for 10 minutes and let me know if the cpu throttles? Nobody appears to be interested to test if this laptop throttles, unfortunately. Thanks.

Thanks a lot, this is a great find. I have been wondering whether this has an extra M.2 slot since I believe there should be enough space to put one inside but didn't get an answer until now. This might also mean the 2020 model may also have an extra M.2 slot too.

I'm curious about the longevity of HP Envy laptop line. Specs seem pretty good so far, though the weight of 2.05kg is a bit on the heavier side for a 2-in-1 laptop. Does anyone know if there is any extra NVME/SATA slot on this laptop?
If it's also an NVME type then hands down this is one of the best deals so far with the new AMD Renoir chip.
