CRAFTSMAN 3000 Series 63-in W x 37-in H 8-Drawer Steel Rolling Tool Cabinet - Lowe's $798

I was looking for one of these to replace a large wooden bench in my garage. I was about to pull the trigger at $950. It went on sale at Lowes

Deal ends on 06-24-2020

This is my second post, so please keep that in mind. I posted the description in the title. I posted the link and included 2 images. I think that covers most of the bases.

I plan to use the Chase Sapphire reserve 50% points bonus to alleviate some of the cost.

If you have any posting suggestions please let me know!

Hope this helps someone else.

Another cabinet on sale at $489: https://www.lowes.com/pd/CRAFTSMA...1000462565

Full current sale list of tool storage (i happen to be in the market for it right now): https://www.lowes.com/pl/Garage-G...4294857661

Generally the Harbor Freight US General Series 2 are considered better bang for the buck, for what it's worth, even at these sale prices

I did notice they had several sitting at the exit "for sale" I was looking at this due to height restrictions. I'll take a look at harbor freight as well. Thank you for the info!

Also on sale at $489
The one in your link is $400 and a totally different cabinet. I was all in at $489, but not for the one you linked. Blink

I'm generally not a fan of all things HF, but I must admit, the US General S2 stuff is first rate. Nearly matches the quality of the Craftsman 3000 series at a much more attractive price point when on sale or special offer. Plus, tons of color options if you're into that.

I may have phrased that poorly, I meant "here's another one on sale for a lot less." Will edit my post to be more clear.

They had these for this price (or maybe $750) from Black Friday until Christmas. Its a nice price but not a super "slick" one. The box is worth the money. Really like them, especially the full length top drawer, but couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger at that price. Was in looking at them to see if price dropped and scored a real deal on a dented Kobalt Box.

Nearly every tool I have is Kobalt. I really like the tools. I couldn't find one that compared, especially for the price. They had a set of Craftsman at the exit when I walked out. The 3000 series with the closing top. I compared to the cobalt and it was a few hundred less. I didn't see a direct competitor to this toolbox from Kobalt. There are a couple Husky products that look really nice at Home Depot as well. If they go on sale I may consider one of those as well. I know it's heavy, which may prevent me from returning it.

The newer HF boxes that are 22" deep like this OP are nice boxes. We have SnapOn, Kennedy, Craftsman and HF boxes in the shop and have never been impressed with Craftsman. But, this is a newer style and at 330lb, probably a decent box. But... I really like the boxes where the top drawer is wide for those longer items.

Do the deep bottom drawers have 1 slide or 2 (like HF)?

FYI, I had the misfortune to purchase their 3000 top and bottom chest. Absolute JUNK! The top units were all damaged. It took Lowes 2 hrs the first time to get both boxes to me, then I went back to replace the top box, another 2hrs and the remaining 3 were damaged. All in different areas.

The wheels on the bottom unit flex as the steel is thin. The locking shaft was not connect to the key cylinder, and of course the drawers were all locked. Paint issues. Rubbing issues.

I cannot comment on this bench, but their tool boxes are trash. Returning both. The HB boxes I had for 10 years and sold were far better made. I would not pay $300 for this combo.

The Craftsman boxes at Lowes are really poor quality. I'd consider the Huskey benches at Home Depot or the US General line at Harbor Freight but I wouldn't buy the Craftsman line for anything over $200 per chest.
