Good deal. The rubberized grips are super nice. Imo Irwin has some of the best grips even when compared to higher end tools. For those living in cold states these grips won't freeze your hands in winter.

It's been this price for months. Wait for the package deals on these mid-level tools.

For the average homeowner, these made in China and on sale as here, are affordable and get the job done at a reasonable cost. For the professional, Irwin has a line made in Germany, such as here [amazon.com], but you are going to pay dearly for quality that is arguably a long way from replacing Klein, Knipex, Fluke, etc.

This is not a deal. Maybe slightly below normal retail but that's it

Eh even the German made stuff isn't that great. I bought the offset pliers and a few others from them that are German made and while better than this stuff with the darker steel, build quality is still off. None of the pliers fully connect, they all have a gap. You can see countless people posting pictures of the same in the reviews for the German made items. They may have been great back in the day but the stuff they're putting out now has gone downhill by a lot

PS - they are manufactured by the same German factory that makes Knipex, but if you look at recent knipex reviews even those have been suffering from bad quality control and a shoddy build. Used to be the joke that German made irwins were just knipex that didn't pass QA but it seems to be plaguing both brands now

You can get the 6 inch pliers and "long nose" together for this price. I'm an Irwin guy so seeing this excited me, but is in no way a deal by any means.

This is an ok deal if you don't want to go to your local store. Otherwise, I would just get a Husky brand at Home Depot because it'd easy to do a warranty claim if needed.

I understand and why, "quality that is arguably a long way from replacing Klein, Knipex, Fluke, etc." ... Knipex is still pretty good out of the three of four factories in Germany. I cannot remember their names but the fourth builds several brands.

That "gap" has been an ongoing discussion everywhere. The gap on my Knipex lineman pliers is equally on the front and back, but the cutter fully engages with no daylight. My best guess from many sets is that the front and back gap is on purpose to allow the cutter to wear and/or be sharpened to allow longevity. I do have an older pair where the gap is now gone.
