Contrary to what a lot of people seem to think.. it will install fine to just about any strap ring (oem or aftermarket) and I've had no issues installing it along side PD mounts and tripod mounts. If anything the bottom mount works best under something large (like a PD Anchor mount or a tripod leveling mount)
YMMV with where your index finger placement is at, based mostly on your finger length and how comfortable you are with the button placement on your camera. Take for example, the XT3... the shutter release is not in the best spot anyway, so it's never super comfortable (imo), but with an XH1 you would be in precisely the right finger placement for most people.
