IT IS NOT scientific to test qualified KN95 masks by pouring water into them. The dripping test is just a rumor. Firstly, water will destroy the protection ability of the melt blown filtering layer, that means: Water will destroy the effectiveness of the face mask; Secondly, too much water has weight (universal force[Laugh]) , so too much water will drip. Also, : The first layer of nonwoven material can let O2 (= oxygen ) pass through the face mask. That is why, the 1st Layer of face mask cannot 100% block water, especially when there is too much (for example, a cup of Water , too much water !!) pour in the face mask. This is not a scientific test and should not be used. Has there been any insight about how long masks remain effective? I understand giving them a break for a few days after wearing. And if visibly soiled or damage should be tossed. But do we know if they continue to filter at the same level for multiple days? Is there a linear degradation with time? Or has that information not been collected yet.

Research shows the new high quality polypropylene (PP, meltblown fabric) can maintain its electrostatic voltage for 2 years even after 18 days 94% Relative Humidity conditioning. My layman understanding is the filtering material might be the last thing to decay under normal use, after soiling, dirt clogging,etc. Based on my limited information, new 3M KN95/N95 filtration rate is about 98%-99%, and they're supposed to have 95% filtration rate at the end of shelf life, which is about 5 years. You can roughly calculate decay rate based on those data. In short, it should be safe to use them before the expiration date, as long as they are stored iunder reasonable temperature and humidity.
BTW, if nose foam doesn't help much, you may also think about criss-crossing the headbands.

Looks like masks are best sanitized with high heat of 65-70° C for 30 minutes to avoid overheating them and crystallizing the meltblown material. Also looks like the two layers protecting the meltblown layer is to prevent moisture from compromising it. I guess it's safe to say they can be re-used by heating as long as it's not worn for too long of a duration.
