Youre not going to break anything if you just modify the things they tell you to.
I've modified mine to disable F1 windows helper. Cause nobody has EVERY gave a shit about that.
F1 is the worst. I got it by accident in excel a lot. I downloaded a script problem to disable it (F1)
Either way I couldn't find any info regarding the differences, except that an Asus rep. said that the F was an international model and the X was American model. Nothing to substantiate though.
Two (2) 2.0 USB ports, no ethernet port to transfer files to another computer (work around).
Backlight keyboard is nice, and the size is very nice, but then my other laptops are older.
This 15.6" laptop is about the size of my old 14" chromebook running Galliumos; it's a little wider but not as deep and about the same thickness - very small bezel. If you run linux on it with either the chromium or chrome browser and mount google-drive-ocamlfuse (may be a bug for auto start) on it with the associated Google Drive (15GB free), Photos (100GB free) Docs, Sheets, it can function somewhat similar to a chromebook. But you don't need docs or sheets with LibreOffice - Writer and Calc. Suggest, Mint (solid 4 yrs support) xfce or Cinnamon (new release very soon) MX Linux, Lite, or Solydx as they are are Ubuntu LTS Long Term Support based except MX and Solydx which are Debian Stable based per https://distrowatch.com/dwres.php...pop
https://wiki.galliumos.
http://www.webupd8.org/2013/09/mo...oogle.html newer search.
Add the brave browser and maybe Opera or Iridium and you have all the browsers you need.
I'll probably just add 8GB for a total or 12 ($32) and possibly a 500GB SSD or use an external drive. Cheap laptop, but for $300 plus ugrades running linux, it will be very fast compared to windows, no 3 hour updates, You can download, check and verify an iso in about 30 minutes, (I have 10 Mbps) and install and update in about 20 minutes. Windows is wiped!
I for one couldn't agree more. After speaking with my God Aquaman he insisted that these PCs be waterproof and have powerful antennas shaped like his trident so he too can enjoy the experience.
I've purchased 3 as gifts for overseas for family members who are college students. Apparently their demands and use of the PC are limited to regular stuff and not "special" needs stuff. It's a win for me and them! Yay.

Do not put faith in a friend; put no trust in a close friend. Guard the doorways of your mouth from the one who lies in your lap. Micha 7:5
But wild beasts of the desert shall lie there; and their houses shall be full of doleful creatures; and owls shall dwell there, and satyrs shall dance there. Isa 13:21
