I am not a fan of when people comment repost. Sometimes people miss the original post (in which it would be nice if you could put a link to the original post) and sometimes you are wrong. I have been waiting for a iPhone that works on Verizon for an upgrade (and not a new line). When I just searched recently posted deals for "iphone" there hasn't been a deal for Verizon upgrades recently since June 1st.
If this is a repost, would someone be so kind to link it here. I couldn't find it looking back the last month.

On Saturday, I ordered 3 XS Max on the 30 month ATT Walmart deal. I am on mobile share. Today I got the ATT change notice, My access fee on each phone went to $ 20 month to $ 40 month. That's an extra $ 600 per phone for the 30 month installment period. That's $ 1099 per phone, including the $ 499 installment cost per phone. I bought my wife's XS Max for $ 1099, when it first came out, almost two ago.
I planned on refusing delivery. I called ATT this morning. After much loyalty wrangling, 12 years with ATT, Including cellphone, internet and Uverse, I was finally told that the $ 20 increase applied to 24 month contracts. Mine was a 30 month installment. I was told my bill would remain the same, plus the installment cost of each phone. Have the agent's name and number.
If I get billed the $ 40, I will pay off each phone immediately.
It seems all of the companies use deals like this to move people from their old plans to newer, more costly, plans. Also, sales people tend to push their sales commission over your plan savings. They will make changes to your plan while your focusing on your new device.
Buyer beware.

Thank you Paul. I also upgraded to XS on 30 month ATT Walmart deal (with $30 upgrade charges) and I'm on Mobile Share Advantage plan. I checked my account, I also see $20 increase in the plan charges. I don't know Access charges since my bill has not generated yet. But as I know, as soon as you pay off your device there is no contract.

FYI, you will be billed $40. I went through this. They'll tell you anything on the phone and in the store. I had to pay off my son's 8 and dumped them the next day.

I was with AT&T for 20yrs. They're horrible.
they are all bad. Obviously from a time before cell phones were prevalent but I was okay with the monopoly. It was people wanting to make money who wanted the monopoly broken up.
Granted I lived in an area where service was fine, I'm sure someone else's experience is a far cry from mine.
Onto cell phones years back I had a terrible experience with Verizon and have vowed never to go back. I'm with ATT I'm sure, in fact I know I pay more, but I'm okay with the service.
The problem with all companies like this is the sales people are just that.....sales people. When I go shopping I try, key word there: "try" to read the contract and then ask the salesman based off of my reading which they may try to answer.....key phrase there being "may try". It sucks but shopping today is more complicated than ever.
I remember the last time I was buying a cell phone the salesman constantly tried to sell me an extended warranty on the phone. I told him numerous times "I'm not interested in the warranty please stop trying to sell me it". It was only after maybe the tenth time of asking him to stop (he was probably on try number 30-40) and me finally saying "if you say the word warranty one more time I'm walking out the door" did the salesman finally stop.

These campaigns are for eligible unlimited plans, the $ increase is on your service plan change from mobile share to an unlimited plan. See att.com/unlimited for current unlimited plans.
Unfortunately, we as consumers need to read fine prints and between the lines of sale campaigns.

Just beware if you are on a unlimited plan and do this deal. I did 2 upgrades. One of my phones didn't come with a sim chip, the other did. So I just took both sim chips from the old phones and put into new phones.
One phone activated and the other didn't. For the one that didn't, I was instructed to go to att store for a new sim chip. Turns out, they just needed the imei of the phone. Both phones were fine and had service when I did the sim swap. The one where they claimed wasn't activated was stuck and wasn't billing the installment payment but balance remained.
Here is the scam, they send you a prorated bill and claim it is prorated but not true, you are paying the taxes and surcharges again at 100% and not prorated. I don't mind the prorated charges but not paying the monthly taxes and surcharges again. Had to call them and it took 30 mins for them to credit me back $25 for the taxes (have 5 lines on my acct).

At these prices it made it to popular deals page at the same prices.
