Nowadays all this Hue shit is just too expensive, a couple years ago sure, a deal at this price. But with all the new competition, their prices haven't budged, they're now rip-off city.

I need 18' and was looking at pricing our extra extensions. When I add more to my order, it completely eliminates the discount, even with adding multiple sets. I could make multiple orders but guessing they want to limit by order.

One of the bigger catches with non-Hue bulbs is finding ones that work in all ecosystems. If you want Hue, Apple HomeKit, Google Assistant, and Amazon Echo, it can be tricky finding a product that syncs across all ecosystems. Some like myself care about that so we're not locked into one of the big voice assistants.
For LED Light strips that work with Hue specifically, this for $70 actually isn't that bad of a deal. WiFi or Zigbee strips aren't the cheapest, especially if you still want it to work with the Hue Hub. You'll either need to buy a compatible kit like this [amazon.com]. or source out the LEDs [amazon.com], power source [amazon.com], and zigbee interface [amazon.com] yourself, which doesn't really save money, but I like to tinker.

The Hue line are one of the few Smart devices that's worth the premium. Works flawlessly with absolutely everything. HomeKit, especially, is key for me. I could get much cheaper led strips, sure. But the hue just works wonderfully

I have tried other brands trying to save money, and have always been disappointed. I hate paying the Hue premium, but I will no longer waste money on inferior products. Unless, someone can enlighten me on a competing product that is on par with Hue.

If you want to source three SKUs to save ~$9, I have purchased this combo three times so far and it has worked well for me:
GIDERWEL RGBWW LED Strip Lights [amazon.com]

The biggest advantage of going GLEDOPTO is the longer runs. 16ft for under $80 is much more palatable than the short runs Philips Hue offers. The biggest downside is that the GLEDOPTO strips won't work with the Play Sync box (or software if using an HTPC), so no fun lighting effects during movies. Though, that could be seen as a feature for some lol.

If you use Nvidia shield download the hue ambilight app. It sees the gledopto as hue lights in the hue app and can control image on non-drm apps

This is not that great of a deal. This was $47 back in March.
Also, there are several issues and downsides with these light strips that in my opinion don't make it worth it. Here is a video [youtu.be] that does a good job explaining why.
