Lol perceived value vs real value. $50 off anything apple and people would be all over this. Had Best Buy simply change it to $999 msrp then to $549 then more people be on board yes?

Older gen ryzen but 12gb ram and 512gb makes it solid
Yea but keep in mind ram is maxed out. There is 4GB soldered in and a 8GB in the single slot. There is however open space for a extra drive HDD or SSD using sata interface. The 512gb is a replaceable nvme type.

i agree there's a lotta folks who piss their $$ away via error of perceived value, and i'm truly not sure why BB doesn't list the MSRP in their pages, as it prob would get folks to bite more often. Yes, it's curious that they admit up front that it's not really any sorta deal to raise eyebrows of any vet SDers.
But FOR ME, this is already old and there are much better deals to be had.
I'm in the market for a backup lappy around this price up to 700 or so, and the newer Ryzen 5 in the touchscreen Envy that's 600 knocks this processor outta the park.
Tho I'm not a Costco member and it looks sold out now, plus I don't really care to spend the $ for touchscreen capability, so I was initially interested in this one, bc it'd be simple to swap out the RAM for a single 16gb stick and were it a newer processor I'd prob go for it even tho the GPU does eat up RAM.
Anyway, hoping for an actual deal on a non-touch lappy around 6-700, would be nice to see one within the week.
Dunno why I just wrote a novel here.... still quarantined, goin nuts i guess

JCPenney used to use a model that got rid of the trickery. Once they found out people liked sales, they switched back. Now they are so into sales everything is being liquidated, lol.

The problem was everyone decided that if it wasn't on sale it was clearly twice as expensive as it should be. In other words instead of being normal price and discounted, there was only marked up and normal. Dillards took the opposite approach and rarely runs sells and people are willing to spend more money there.
