Was having trouble finding a decent 7.2 Channel Atmos and 4K HDR compatible AVR for under $500. I like this because it has 7in/2out hdmi 4K ports

I'm new to this home audio world so it may not be the best of the best but thought I would share for those who took advantage of the recent JAMO sale like I did.

From what I can tell, the 950h supports HDCP 2.3 and the 940h supports HDCP 2.2.

No idea how that affects me

Oh boy....HDCP is the big breaker of compatibility, and is the main reason why I need a new receiver, and the main reason why many early 4k adopters had to buy new TVs. My old one supports 4k but doesn't support HDCP 2.2. I didn't know there was a 2.3, but I suspect it's going to break something with something else. That is exactly what HDCP is designed to do. Sure, they say it's designed to stop piracy, but truth be told, no pirate was ever stopped by HDCP.

Device makers love it because it's planned obsolescence. Media companies love it because it gives them a false sense of security. Intel loves it because they get royalties from every device sold that supports it.

That said, I'll have to pass if there's already YET ANOTHER version of HDCP.

Thankyou for the tip, I'm going to see how this will affect me, it but likely won't because I'm always buying 2-3year old gear on sale anyways

HDCP 2.3 passes 4k/120 and does ALLM for gaming.

Looks like the refurb 950 is 449 now, I'd say it's worth $50 more, you won't be able to upgrade to the new HDCP for $50 in the future https://www.accessories4less.com/...eos/1.html

Even though it's via Amazon, the seller is Rand's Camera, which is not an authorized Denon dealer (per Denon's website).

You think they would still honor warranty claims?
