Yakima as with Thule is considered a high-end bike rack. They are much heavier and sturdier than the value brands like Allen. Yakima's are normally a one piece construction and don't need to be put together. You can just slide it on to the hitch from the box. They also come with a built in lock where you can secure your bike onto the hitch. Allen does have a lock to prevent the hitch from being stolen, but the bikes are vulnerable. There are also more straps per bike on the Yakima to help prevent the bikes moving while being transported. You can find Yakima in many reputable bike shops. There is a premium price on it and only you can make that decision if it's worth the extra price. It's like bikes: some cost $50 and some cost $10K. they both do the same thing...how they do it is what sets it apart.

I ordered the Full Swing from them last month, but they've been having issues with Yakima shipping these out (at least that's what I'm told). The order has been delayed several times and now that has a delivery date of August. I shocked they are selling more even if they can't deliver in the near future.

Anyone know the legitimacy of this site? Perhaps from those who've placed orders with them before? I actually noticed that their site came up a lot during my research on bike carriers but personally never heard of them and know that sometimes it's hard to trust some of the sites that Google Shopping displays in their results.

Thanks in advance!

Also, the additional 20% off coupon does seem to apply to Yakima only but not Thule, which also has the standard 20% sale going on.

Any recommendations on Yakima platform bike carriers that don't contact the frame (I have carbon bike frame) and is also lockable at the hitch and locks down the bike as well?

Is it good to get the sks lock and that lock cable or can I just get any cable at Target and loop it around?

Edit Target way is cheaper lol

Man I have an 05 Titan truck with camper and wanted a bike rack but need to get additional hitch to mount the bike rack on so $320 + another $200 (hitch)?

Or simply put the bikes in the camper lol

If you don't have a full-suspension bike, these are nice. But once you have that shock mid-frame, it gets really tricky to use this type of carrier.

I have bought 8 different items from them on separate orders. They are great. Did a couple of price matches after the sale. Highly satisfied.

I'm not trying to thread-crap, but what makes this such a spectacular deal?

The normal 4-bike rack of similar design is often had for $100-$110 frequently - https://www.amazon.com/Allen-Spor...0792V7HB5/ . I have the non-locking version, which can be often had for ~$80. It has lasted 3-seasons for me so far without issue.

I get it if you need for a 5th bike, but is the extra bike capacity worth nearly triple the price?

You're not just paying for the ability to load another bike. I bought the 4 bike version of this for $400. It's well built and feels extremely sturdy. The Allen one looks to be a lot thinner metal.

Another feature the Yakima has that the Allen doesn't is that it has an integrated bike lock that locks the bikes to the rack.

Edit: I thought this one was the Full Swing model. Removed mention of the swing out arm.
