For some reason even rational people have been overtaken by hysteria. All I encourage people to do is think for themselves. If you're to the point where you won't leave your house, that's mysophibia, and you should get treatment. With all the hysterics (e.g. media) I don't really blame people for it, but do yourself a favor and disconnect from the panic porn.
BTW, it is not mysophobia, which is an unnatural fear/aversion to all dirt/germs/etc., to try to protect oneself from a very specific disease. No different than someone saying they would not go on a cruise, because of the fairly frequent Norovirus outbreaks.
Many people understand the chance not being infected by SARS-CoV-2 is in their favor, however many also feel why temp fate, why not minimize it further. I've been driving for 40 years and never needed a seat belt, but I still wear my seat belt.
