What we're seeing more and more though, is that Amex is willing to use its broad authority to claw back points or close the accounts of people who try to game promotions or do things that are explicitly forbidden by the terms and conditions. Amex has made it clear that it doesn't intend to sit back and allow people to game the system.
Amex clawing back points are the ones that are MS'ing to get points for traveling as in (Delta, Hilton, etc). But come on … clawing back a credit of $5 seriously I have never had credits clawed back for these amex offers. Amex offers at Staples, Lowes, etc and I always bought Amazon gift cards all the time on 6 cards in our household and yes there are 6 of us. One offer added to each account. not gaming the system here.

haha, no they aren't; that's ridiculous, vc. we're NOT seeing more and more of nothing of the kind. what we ARE seeing is criminals being held accountable for cheating. using your amex card at the merchant and then going home and standing by while the amex credit card system does it own work all by itself that amex programmed it to do is not my fault. I added the offer. then one day, I decided to buy a gc which isn't a crime and I took that gc home. how is it my fault? am I supposed to turn around and call amex and beg them to stop it?! c'mon give me a break. if amex wants to control their own software code, they know what to do. the burden is not on the customer. nowhere does it say after you add the offer, please avoid using the card at a small biz which sells gcs. it says you won't get a credit, fine. if they go ahead and give me a credit anyway, I guess they lied. how am i to know what to believe? who reads all that fine print anyway.

This morning, I received an email from AMEX that I had redeemed this offer, but I really haven't visited any stores yet.
To my surprise, an Ebay purchase triggered this award. I guess some of their sellers qualify as 'shop small'.
I have 3 authorized users with their own online accounts and they all got this offer.
By the way, does Serve charge a load fee when you do a cash reload at CVS on the Serve Card?
