Infants/toddlers and women are usually the groups that require iron supplementation. Two of my kids have needed it and my wife needed it during 2 pregnancies.

For men, by in large unless you have some sort of bleeding issue, shouldn't need nor take iron supplements (also why while many women's multis might have iron, men's won't).

I hear that iron supplements can prevent chronic nose bleeding, what kind of dose would I want to take for something like that?

Iron supplements are overrated, never heard of somebody who actually needs these!

Like the other guy, my wife also needed iron supplements during pregnancy.

Yes. As well is when they're on their cycle. My wife used to take prenatal vitamins when she wasn't even pregnant to deal with low iron.

Recently Started giving to my 7 yr old to deal with restless legs at night. Tough to say whether it definitively works, but it seems to be helping

As someone who doesn't eat meat, supplements are the only way I can get iron. I notice a major difference when I don't take them.

PS - Animals only have iron because they ingest so much dirt, which contains iron. I never knew this until I researched further.

Actually, taking 18mg of iron every day has alleviated my restless leg syndrome. My iron levels have always been low even though I am a male

You could likely get around needing a supplement by using iron cookware [runnersconnect.net] for a meal or 2.

Many women are low in iron, after given birth 2x I had very bad complications that I almost bleed to death. 2 time around needed blood transfusions, iron supplements were given for months after wards.

It's best to check with your doctor before taking any kind of supplements. Too much iron can be just as bad as too little. My mom has to give blood every few months just to lower the concentration of iron in her blood.
