Kit includes an impact driver, not an impact wrench. Makita only sells 1/2" impact wrenches. I just bought one. It's awesome.
Acme comes with atleast 3 batteries, just like HD. The 2 in the kit and 1 extra as a promo. So nothing to lose really.

Impact drivers are all 1/4" that I'm aware of. Impact wrenches means for impact sockets run the full drive range — 1/4" through 1" and up.
