Excellent price for an excellent lens. A lot of photographer say this is one of the best ultra wide lenses made. Only issue I have heard about this lens is the lens does not take filters, such as density, polaroid filters and so on. That comes into play when taking waterfall pictures during the day time if you want that silky, smooth waterfall pic.

Great lens. It doesn't take normal circular filters. You would need to purchase a rectangular filter system (lee, cokin, etc.)

You can get lens specific filter adapters for this lens.

If you don't need f2.8, consider the 16-35 f4 as it's lighter and takes regular circular screw on filters. However, if you NEED this lens it's likely for astro which is understandable for the need of f2.8.

Indeed, you are right. But in my case, I own a Nikon 80-200mm f2.8 lens, a Nikon 85mm, f1.4, a Nikon 24-70mm f2.8 lens, and a Nikon 17-55mm, f2.8 lens, all with the 77mm ring. I already bought filters for the 77mm ring. When I updated to the Nikon d850, I could not use the 17-55mm, 2.8 lens, it's a DX lens. The first lens I looked at was the 14-24mm, f2.8 lens. But, it did not fit my filters. So I bought the 17-35mm f2.8 lens instead.

WonderPana makes a circular filter kit for this lens. It's has a big mount and it's spendy, check at BH photo

Tempted, to complete my fleet, but probably will use 24-70 and 70-200 more often, which makes it difficult to justify the purchase....
