I had an opportunity to check this laptop side by side with Dell XPS 15 latest. I am really glad that HP does not have numpad like spectre. I had spectre 15, not a fan of sidelined trackpad.
Dell XPS is better for:
Gorgeous bezel less build
Full Size SD card slot
Battery little better I guess
HP Envy is better for:
Price
GPU
HP is only few millimeters deeper than XPS. Not a deal breaker to me.RAM is upgradeable on HP.

.73" vs .66" on the XPS. Does .07" disqualify this from being an ultrabook? Just checked... Apparently they gotta be less than .59" to be technically an ultra book. I use the term loosely to describe nice looking relatively small laptops with good specs.
I think ultrabooks have no gpu and are thin, but with gpu it becomes a "thin and light" class
6 cores, upgradable ram, 4.74 pounds, 84 wh battery. it's a little thick and heavy (much like yo mamma) but If I'd seen this before ordering the Dell that FedEx just picked up, I'd have at least looked up some reviews.
Brought the envy x360 15" from costco. I like the construction but i think the new xps laptop family looks better. I am personally waiting for an ryzen version of the xps laptop. It is the first time amd is taking the lesd over intel in the laptop cpu market. Maybe not for long though.

No numpad on 15" laptop? Thats not great. I only saw one exhaust fan in the pictures. If it is the case there will be a lot of fan noise-heating problems with 45w cpu and full size gpu.
If there were no restocking fee I'd give a shot.
From the pictures it has lightning bolt symbol, doesn't it mean it has thunderbolt?
definitely confusing specs.
Specs for the microcenter model does not say thunderbolt either but it has. I hope the same case here too. I had HP support send an email to me for free returns if this is not Thunderbolt on arrival. Like others mentioned their return and order cancellation policy is in 90s

It wouldn't be called an ultra book unless it had processor ending with U.
