Considering that the Craftsman string trimmer goes for $99 regular price and also includes a charger and battery. No blower but how much is a blower worth?
That is a lot to pay for a string trimmer, but it is a pretty good deal considering it includes an 8.0 battery, rapid charger and the blower. I own this, and would buy it again. The optional edger attachment works really well too.

The 2724-20 blower as a bare tool goes for $150 any day of the week, $99 on a good sale, and the craziest deal on it has been $70 but you had to buy 3 and stack coupon codes with a promo. It's slightly better than the dewalt blower IMO.
this is not just any string trimmer. it's a power head that accepts multiple accessories, one of which is the string trimmer.
then it includes a blower (usually $100 on sale, regular price $150), 8.0 and charger (maybe another $100), so you're looking at $180 for the power head and trimmer which isn't bad.
I am a Milwaukee tool guy but there are far better ego deals for yard. HD just had ego trimmer and blower plus 2.5 battery for $200. I'd argue ego is better. The big difference is it wasn't egos multi tool but still almost half this price

I've been thinking of ego vs Milwaukee for months now, and I was thinking more towards egos side, but there are a lot of reports all over the internet talking about the batteries dying around a year or less, and it seems to be often enough that it's a problem. Secondly it seems egos warranty doesn't cover the battery which at around $150 is pretty much the cost of the tool. If not for that I'd lean towards ego, but I'm thinking about Milwaukee now because I already have batteries in that ecosystem. Oh also the power wind head ego has is cool, but lots of complaints for that too. Sad because I really wanna like their system since they have a lawnmower. Hope this helps someone decide.

I have also seen quite a few reports of failed, or highly degraded, ego batteries after just a year or two. Also seems as though their support is not great, from what I've read. To each their own, but I really enjoy all my other m18 tools and batteries so I think this is at least worth a try and worst case can be returned.

Extremely small sample size, I know, but I have 2 different sized batteries from first-generation Ego 56v tools (mower and string trimmer) - and at approximately 5 years old I am just now starting to notice their degraded performance, they've worked pretty well up to this point. And even now, I think it's only the larger battery that isn't working as well. They have been good tools overall. I don't really like the performance of the string trimmer, but again, mine is the first one they made - pretty sure the newer ones are brushless and better in most ways.

Imo greenworks (or any other 40v system) is fine for a mower since you can get most of the batteries to work interchangeably with minor modifications. I have a 40v self propelled greenworks mower ($150 clearance last fall with a 5AH battery) and it works well. If I had my way (read:funds) I'd have other Milwaukee tools/accessories for the rest of the yard equipment, but alas, the greenworks trimmer (non-power head) was clearance for $20 with a 2AH battery, and their blower/mulcher was only $100.
I do have a corded Ryobi power head/straight shaft/expand-it tool with a tiller head and have the edger attachment showing up soon (once DTO ships). I'm 100% glad I went corded for the tiller.
