In line with what everyone has been saying, it's an okay monitor for the basics, but there are probably better deals out there right now. I didn't mind paying $75 at the time, but I would probably rethink purchasing it at this price.
It has 4.5/5 rating on Staples.com. On Amazon when you filter for that specific model, it has high reviews. The Amazon page lumps some other Dell monitors with power issue on the reviews for this monitor.
Personally, I've had the monitor for two years now. Almost on the whole day and haven't had any problems.
Dell makes great monitors so I don't know what universe you're from if Acer has the better reputation. Until Acer releases something like the Ultrasharp line and has widespread usage among professionals and companies who need high quality monitors, I'll give Dell the advantage when it comes to monitor development. Not that it really matters when you're talking about sub $200 monitor. At my old work they had top of the line equipment and they used Dell Ultrasharps that cost a few hundred dollars not some TN panel Acer.
Anyway, I would never buy a TN panel for more than a better quality IPS monitor. Reading text on TN panels is not pleasant, especially after experiencing what IPS offers.
Yes, the IPS display looks better than a TN panel in general.
Reasons you might prefer the Acer:
•Audio pass through.
•Slightly larger display
•DVI port
Edit:
This Acer model pops up on a lot of sites and the listed ports selection changes from site to site. Even this deal when you look at the images they show 2 different models.
Amateur hour over at Office Depot.

Telling people to search for a deal when the deal has expired it's pretty dumb.
