Just for reference, I'm a regular runner, I hit about 2000 miles per year, and prior to covid, I'd probably average about 5 races per year. Usually Half marathons, but I'll squeeze in the occasional Full sometimes. I'm about a 1:20 & 3:00 type of runner. Still a hobbyist, but I enjoy pushing what I can out of these legs. I'm really happy for the people that got this shoe to work for them, but for me personally it's one of the worst shoes I've tried in the last few years (and I've tried a LOT of shoes, I went through a pretty bad shoe geek phase for a couple years.)
The first thing, think of Hokas, they lay the cushion on thicc. When you start laying cushion that thick, it can start to affect the flexibility of the shoe. However, Hoka combats this by using a rocker outsole. The New Balances don't have that. So basically think of rolling a ball across the floor, vs pushing a block end over end across the floor. Hokas roll you through your transition, these shoes are flat and blocky and cause a very slappy sensation upon ground contact.
Next, which is even worse, was the heel. I could literally take the shoes off with no assistance. I mean I could lean forward enough that my heel would slip out and I could just remove my foot without ever touching my shoe. I had my shoes fit perfectly, laced up and everything. There was just zero lock down, and pure heel slippage. I couldn't run anything more than a slow jog in them because the heel was so insecure.
I'll probably get downvoted for voicing such a strong opinion about this shoe, but honestly out of the dozens and dozens of running shoes I've gone through, this one stands out as one that was so bad it made me angry that I wasted money on it. Also shout out to Dick's Sporting Goods for not letting me return it.
Yes joes new balance outlet is very legit. Check their website out lots of good deals. Everything ships in legit NB packaging as well

How are these for running? Ankle seems pretty elevated compared to forefoot. Thanks
The Listing says 4mm drop so if that is true that is a pretty small difference between the forefoot and heel.
Some of the most popular shoes like nike pegasus and adidas ultra boost have a 10mm drop.
The heel to forefoot drop is just personal preference though.

Edit:
Look like the v9.
v10 are very good for flat feet, but I'm not sure about the v9 so I will pass. Thanks.
