    i'd go with Banana Republic suit offer from couple weeks ago, if it's still running.

    I got into the EXPRESS, ALFANI and BR and the quality of BR blows the others away, night and day.

    This is good for occasional use if you don't mind to stick to cheap fabric for long hours.
    Otherwise just find clearance stuff from Men's wearhouse or Jos A Bank as they are now spatting flies (sarcasm)!

    If you're new to buying suits, the price isn't important. You don't need a $500+ suit. The most important thing is the fit, and the most important part of that fit is the jacket. As long as the jacket fits closely enough, you can get it tailored relatively cheaply. Pants are super easy to alter, so those can be too long or whatever. I have a $70 suit that honestly looks nicer than some of my more expensive suits, just because it fits so perfectly.

    Getting a custom/good fit is obviously important, but if you're buying a single suit for special occasions and never wear one otherwise, then may as well spend some money and get something that's not made in China (preferably from the US or Italy) and of quality materials. Then get a tailor to fit it to you well and you'll be set for years as long as you don't gain too much weight. If you wear suits often, obviously these cheaper suits are good to have.

    Hey all. I agree that fit is most important. Go to a Banana Republic and j crew and try stuff on and try to find close sizing. Then make a note or it and scan slickdeals and wait. Fabric is second most important. 97% wool (remainder for stretch is fine) but avoid poly and avoid cotton. And as a 46 yr old corporate lawyer, I only buy a banana or a Calvin Klein suit from Macy's on sale. There is very little point in spending 2000 on a suit today. I wear a suit without a tie and if you want to make it more formal you can and it looks great. I agree. Banana republic deal is better. You don't need a link. Just. Go. To. Their. Website.
