Why isn't this a popular deal or even have a single comment?? Is it because of the unpopularity of the set or the seller?

Probably because it has come up so many times that everyone who wants one already bought one.

Ding it, I bought this set on this exact site a couple weeks ago at $223. Anyone know if they have price drop protection?

I hate how they made it controlled via an app as opposed to the old fashioned remote control. I don't wanna give my kid a phone yet you know.. but this is tempting as hell at this price point..

Always thought this was a very pricey set given that it's less than 1000 pieces

Yeah same here. Any way to make these not dependent on obsolete technology?
Meaning anything connected to apps will in few years become obsolete and useless once apps and phones are not updated on the old items

You could use Power Functions motors and controller with this however youd have to spend roughly another $80+ for motors and controller along with additional pieces to make this all fit

Wait what? I ordered this too and didn't realize it was coming from the UK. Is there actually a difference?

The Lego wireless protocol is documented on GitHub https://lego.github.io/lego-ble-w...ocol-docs/
Anyone can go and make a custom controller for the hub. I suspect in the future there will be custom apps. I went ahead and downloaded the documentation in case I need to make my own app in 20 years. I'm think it would be a fun project make a custom bluetooth controller for it.

You mean 3rd party apps? I think there already are.

It would be worth it if the hubs could store programs rather than requiring constant tether and also supported programming beside scratch.
