Saw this too. Is this better than Gaia? There are a handful of decent hiking apps like this, and I always have a tough time deciding which one I like the best. I did notice that this AllTrails app doesn't actually have All the Trails around me!
There are a whole lot of hiking/running apps out there. Some are paid, some are free. Choosing one depends on what you are looking for. A lot of people seem to like All Trails for the maps. Since I hike the same basic places, I don't really need maps too much.
I used to use Strava but after they eliminated Bluetooth and Ant+ sensor pairing in the app, it lost its value to me. And many have bailed on the app since they dropped this support. Their explanation of this functionality causing the Strava app to crash has been roundly discredited by many. I now use a small app called Sports Tracker, which is free. I like that I can use my Wahoo heart band and my Bluetooth earpiece with it so that I can have it speak data like my heart-rate, distance and other stats as I exercise.

Strava also just added a paywall in front of many features, including the ability to track your times historically on segments.

Add the trails. That is what I like, the ability to correct and create trails.
