Dumb question, maybe. Is there any downside to buying a cellular model if you have no intention of using it for that feature? I don't even have verizon as my carrier. I would assume one would just turn off cellular service in the preferences.
I used the google and answered my own question, which seems to be no real downside. Also just in case there is and going cellular becomes desirable , apparently this model is unlocked and will work with any carrier (Per the Q and A on the item page at B+H)

I got a cellular one before and never activated it. I'd still recommend even paying a little extra for the feature. When it came time to sell it, it sold much faster because of the cellular and I got more than what most people in my local Craigslist were asking. I know you answered your own question, but I wanted to give that feedback.

Good feedback. Makes sense. Honestly surprised this deal isn't getting more talk. Great price for a cellular. Tiger Direct deal got lots of love about a week ago at 899 for this same year and GB ( although non-cellular). This is actually a better deal when you consider the tax savings for me anyway 999-6% is better than 899+6%.

My natural inclination is to always go for the newest one, but they really didn't do that much from this 2018 model to the 2020 model except from camera stuff. I wonder if others are seeing 2018 and immediately jumping to no.
All iPad Pro 12.9" 2018 model has 4GB RAM. The 1TB model doesn't have 6GB RAM.
To me double the storage from 256GB to 512GB for $70 extra is a no-brainer.
Whether the extra 512GB with the 1TB model is worth $200 extra depends on your needs.
The 64GB model maybe too limited. So seems the 512GB model would suit most people best.

Are there actually different variants of the cellular version? This one listed as "Verizon 4G LTE". I bought an ipad air listed as just "LTE" a while ago and I was not able to activate it on tello citing it's not compatible with their network (they're sprint mvno) thru IMEI check. Even tho using sprint's own IMEI check said OK. I find these LTE ipad very confusing when it comes to finding an affording carrier to activate on.
Thanks OP! Got the 512gb. Not sure why this is not more popular than the tiger direct deal.. Glad I missed that one so I could get the cellular version for a little more. BH has always been solid for me.

They are advertising as being for Verizon, but I think the iPads are otherwise unlocked and can be used on any carrier.
