These make for good screw/hardware organizers or for small tools and art supplies.

The lid and its hinges are really poorly made. Pops off a lot and doesn't seat right.

Also not a big fan of how hard the back of the compartments are to reach. Seems like it's too deep under the next level.

I have the red one and it's perfectly fine. I have a few modern soft-sided bags too, but I always preferred the traditional tackle box and this one has been going for a few years now without a problem.

My son and I have the 3-tray green one. They've been $11.44 for months, though (in store). We bought ours in April.

It's a decent tackle box. Serves our weekend fishing days just fine.

I have the blue one and it sucks. The lid doesn't stay attached.

I had a blue two-tray one. Returned it after spilling hundreds of hooks on the floor of my inflatable kayak on the very first use due to poor lid design. Cover my floor with thick towel now.

I know the Plano box is made in USA. Do you happen to know where Flambeau boxes are made?

Edit: It seems Flambeau boxes are made in the USA as well.

Based on a press release from 2017, these tackle boxes are made in USA, but the company is diversified and worldwide.

"Flambeau, Inc. is a member of Nordic Group of Companies, Ltd. Nordic Group (Baraboo, Wisconsin) is a privately held holding company consisting of subsidiaries with 22 facilities and 23 marketing units around the world with over 2,400 associates. Nordic Group companies manufacture and distribute plastic, seating and transportation products worldwide for industrial, commercial and consumer markets. Flambeau Outdoors headquarters is in Middlefield, Ohio."

People still use old plastic tackle boxes? I fish weekly, surrounded by many lakes and bayous here in Louisiana and everyone I know uses a tackle bag now. I haven't used a plastic tackle box in 10 years. The tackle bags are extremely durable, has pockets and slots for your bait knife, pliers and other gadgets. Also the storage containers on the inside are pretty cheap at Walmart and Academy so as your tackle collection grows, you can mix/match containers in your bag.

These plastic boxes might be ok for a beginner or if you just bream and catfish. If you have a lot of lures or jigs then the tackle bag is the only way to go.

Is this the cheapest/smartest solution for starting a custom first-aid kit to have around?

I would work well, yes. Good thought!
