The HSU VTF-3 MK5 HP is a much better deal at $500 less. HSU puts out arguably the best bangs for the buck.

Unless a person has the world's most perfect room acoustics, two subs is the way to go to deal with crazy room modes. Dual VTF-3 MK5 subs are $1,549. I'd rather spend $350 more and get that instead of one Monolith sub. The sound will be so much better because a smoother frequency response curve.

Actually, probably more like $500 more for dual VTF-3 MK5s because HSU charges shipping.

How does this compare to the other in my list? i have read a ton of reviews, suggestions etc etc on many forums but my research is still ongoing.

I am holding on till Thanksgiving for either Monoprice Monolith 15" THX or Rythmik FV15HP or HSU VTF-15H-MK2 or PSA V1512 or PSAV1812.

I know there are not a ton of deals on sub-woofers usually but i am strapped for cash at the moment and i can wait before purchasing anything as i am still looking for options to start my basement home theater setup from scratch as i do not have any piece of equipment as of now.

The order feel like to choose before making a decision.

I've VTF-15H MK2 and really like it. Just a bit more than VTF-3 MK5 but still much cheaper than Monolith

When I was looking for subs, HSU Research [hsuresearch.com] was brought up commonly. You can email them your room dimensions (cubic feet ultimately) and they will suggest which of their line would best fit your room. I have Dual VTF-15H MK2's and I never really understood what was meant by "pressurize the room" in regards to subwoofers, but I definitely understand it now. Check them out and shoot them an email as they were very helpful in my decision.

Thank you fo your inputs. I wonder how the vtf3 mk5 compares with vtf 15h and if it's worth the few hundred more or spend that money towards a second vtf3 mk5.

The only thing I fear going with hsu is I've never heard it in person before but I have a feeling it's going to be boomy instead of clean like the monolith. I do like boomy bass too but want a sub to do both. Boomy in movies and clean for music. Monolith 10 gives me the clean bass I'm looking for but the punch is missing in low-mid range.

I can say HSU subs aren't boomy at all and produce clean bass at all frequencies. They have flexible set up options (Variable Tuning - Ported, sealed, oneport open and one port sealed) to match your room and taste. As with any subwoofer, you need to spend spend time initially to find the sweetspot in your room and tune the subwoofer to match your needs

I have a PSA S3601 and it's a farking monster. Plus the 60 day trial, 5 year warranty, and upgrade trade-in program are going to be better than anything else you'll find.

I have the VTF-15H MK2 and it's an absolute beast. I can't sing praises about it high enough. This thing with one port open, digs very deep, was able to register 16 hz and it was literally shaking my whole house. You cannot go wrong with the HSU sub.
