They don't. At all. I bought the painted ones, assuming that they would score the paint somehow or micro-drill so liquids can reach the surface of the stone. Nope, solid gloss paint. Water just runs off the sides of the coaster. Look nice, but no absorbency whatsoever.
What is also worse is that your wet cup sticks to them and I've had several then fall and break when it hits the floor!

Just what I was looking for. Hard to pick which one but finally decided on the Galvanize one. Thanks OP!

I have the "original" Thirstystone with no paint on the surface. Unfinished stone if you will. They work like a BEAST. Zero liquid ever collects around the base of the cup.

So, that said, anybody have these with the designs on them? How well do they absorb?

Regular unpainted thirsty stone going strong. Looks like that's why these painted ones are going on sale it's a fail product.

And can someone explain me the point of buying a set of 4 at 7.99 and not buying 4 individual coasters of the same kind at 1.99 each (total of 7.96) ?
I mean if we are being frugal here, 3 pennies are three pennies.

I like your slick thinking, but my thought is there's a little higher risk of something going wrong with the order like:

-the wrong coaster is mailed
-a set is packaged more securely when shipped together
-they run out of coasters before fulfilling the order

Now if you wanted to mix and match different designs I think individual orders is definitely the way to go!

So liquids will run off this and ruin my end tables? Also, it will stick to my glass, fall off, gouge my hardwood floor & break? Perfect!

Are they painted on just the one side? Could I use the upside down and have the raw stone to soak up the condensation?

If you go to Home Depot you can get free hardwood flooring samples, pre-cut out into squares in all kinds of colors and varieties, and use them as drink coasters. For free. Did I mention they're free?

I was going to order some but then I saw your post how it's a sealed top. Now thinking about it, your better off going to Home Depot and getting the square wood flooring samples for free as they are sealed as well on top. We have some after looking at different flooring planks
