This thing is so bad ass....but the stretching effect on most games would be unbearable for me.

In the near $1000 range I expect at least freesync premium if not freesync premium pro whereas this had just basic freesync.

Even on a 34" 21:9 monitor it can be a problem. Games that can handle the FOV (or are 2D) look fantastic though. Arkham City, Just Cause 3, and Hitman Absolution I've successfully played in 21:9 with no visible issues. On the other hand, Skyrim and GTAV made me feel seasick.

Bigger problems are with DPI scaling in OS and programs. Setting things in Windows doesn't ensure everything will scale with it, and even when they do artifacts or tiny fonts and icons abound.

1440p isn't even close to high DPI at this size. You're not going to run into scaling issues.

You're thinking of screen resolution, I'm talking about pixels density, but you're not wrong. A monitor of that size probably overcomes the issues on my 34" monitor. It's still at least worth double checking for potential buyers.

Wish this was around 2 weeks ago when I bought the curved 38in LG. Not for gaming, but mainly work, and 2 or 3 screens at the same time on a monitor is KEY for the work I do (sell tech, like monitors, haha)

I have a 34" uw and I like it but in some ways multiple monitors are better. For example when apps come up full screen it is stoopid. And lots of apps do this. Or when you try to share a screen in WebEx and the aspect is screwet for everyone without your monitor.
When software catches up to uw's it will be better.

How comes something like this handles games that doesn't support the resolution? Does it stretch it or is the game letterboxed?

Yeah, I think we all did 😂. It's been pretty solid so far. I think the AOC beats this in most categories but there's obviously a major size difference. So if that's what you're after, just return it and get this.
