I bought this same one from Target because I needed a monitor for work and I don't like it. Input lag even on game mode is terrible, the cursor is delayed enough to be annoying, as well as moving windows around and typing. I spent hours trying to get the text to show up clear (windows scaling, clear text, etc) and just couldn't get it sharp enough for what I need. The color on it is good, I'd use it for a TV. So I went and bought a TCL 43" yesterday and noticed a huge difference in sharpness, and very little input lag even with game mode off. The color on the TCL isn't as good, but I'm programming code and running spreadsheets so color isn't an issue. For a TV I like the Vizio, for a monitor I like the TCL, as well as LG and Toshiba 4K.
Are you talking about V405-H or V405-G?
Did you test it at resolution 3840x2160?

V405-H9 has very sharp text at resolution 3840x2160 but not in other resolutions.

Anyone know if this can be set to auto switch inputs? Kind of behave like a monitor? I use a Samsung TV (7100 something, 2 years old I think) for Xbox and PC right now and the switching and power are pretty obnoxious
It can not.

Anyone using this as monitor?
Yes, I use it. Works great for me- I have this in the center and two 27" monitors flanking it.

Last year's model is only HDMI 2.0. But this year, the V405-H9, is supposed to support HDMI 2.1. https://support.vizio.com/s/artic...uage=en_US
Good to know. Bought late last year. But 2.1 for entry level tv that lcd panel only support 60hz?😁

mine is sharp and perfect. You have to enable uhd for chroma 4:4: 4. And set input to pc.
Mine is older model thab this deal.
This vizio v40 angle view is alot better than tcl 4 43"

How is this as a tv? I'm looking for a 40inch 4k smart TV to put on the wall of my bedroom for the occasional movie while I'm falling asleep. Im reading about firmware issues but all the gripe seems to be around it's functionality as a computer monitor. Any insights?

Got this recently brand new in box off OfferUp for $120.

Out the box most picture settings are horrible and dark calibrated would be the one closest to ideal for anything if you don't plan on dialing it in .

Also only HDMI 1 and 2 can be used in uhd mode if your interested in 4k content.

For this price I would pass unless your planning on using it as a monitor maybe ? Idk Im not a PC gamer .

I mean is you max budget atm and or are you needing a TV now ?

If the answer is no . Spend alil more and grab the Hisense 58 that's been on here the last few weeks . Or if you do even better with a budget go towards h8g or h9g if your looking for the king of the budget TV

Sounds like you got last year's (G9) model which is true for input 1 and 2. https://support.vizio.com/s/artic...uage=en_US

This year's (H9) is supposed to have HDMI 2.1 in all inputs 1, 2, and 3. https://support.vizio.com/s/artic...uage=en_US

Yeah your correct I do have g9. I only grabbed it because my GF mom was moving in and for the price for a 4k I got it at was a steal . After dialing it in it will serve its purpose well for her.

So the consensus here is this TV kinda sucks for console gaming? ive been looking for a new TV to enhance my xbox experience and getting ready for the new xbox launch this year.

40" is the max i can go and ive been looking for a good one around this price with an ethernet so i can use apps like disney or netflix hard wired instead of wifi. my router is central near my tv so my xbox is wired

You need a bigger screen size to really notice any difference with 4k.
