Solid deal for a single stick of 8GB DDR4 3200Mhz So-dimm especially for those who purchase the Dell Inspiron 15 5000/dell 14 7000 laptop deal. That laptop has an extra slot and is also the same CAS timings 22-22-22.
Before people start bashing CL 22, please refer to the following information:
Explaining RAM speeds [crucial.com]
1. Semiconductor engineers know that CAS latencies are an inaccurate indicator of performance
2. Latency is best measured in nanoseconds, which is a combination of speed and CAS latency
3. Both speed increases (mhz) and latency decreases (CL/CAS) result in better system performance
Example: because the latency in nanoseconds for DDR4-2400 CL17, DDR4-2666 CL19, and DDR4-3200 CL 23 are roughly the same (14.25ns), the higher speed DDR4-3200 RAM will provide better performance.
The default ram has a latency (in nanoseconds) of 13.75 which is better than all the examples above and overall better than probably 85% of all DDR4 ram.
Whats more important is the GB Ram size which impacts the available RAM for distribution to be able to ensure enough resources are available for multitasking. So either adding another 8GB Stick (recommended for 95% of users) or replacing the stick with two 16GB (32GB total) (Power users who plan on connecting multiple monitors and performing multiple tasks at once.)
