Just went to our tmobile store in Albertville MN and the sales guy didn't reccomend their A71 5g model currently. Said there is known issue with connectivity on their network. Numerous dropped calls etc with the A71 5g on tmobile. Heard issues from Rogers MN tmobile store as well.

Quick Summary

- Trade-in: A phone not worth anywhere near $600. Get new A71 phone billed on an installment plan at $25/month over 2 years ($25 x 24 months = $600). This deal does not require adding a new line,

Not So Quick Summary

Step 1: Acquire an eligible trade-in phone on the cheap. Preferably from the $600 promo value list (see promo here [t-mobile.com]). If you don't already have a worthwhile trade-in: used, working, non-blacklisted (clean IMEI) S8's can be bought for $160 from local phone shops, but qualify for $600 trade-in value. You might be able to hustle something better.

Step 2: Go to a local T-mobile corporate store (not a licensed dealer/small biz retailer) and tell them you want the A71 deal with the $600 trade-in promo. Reference "Samsung A71 on Us" deal, "2020 Samsung Trade Promo 9".

Step 3: The store rep will evaluate and approve/disapprove your trade-in. However, you will *not* relinquish your trade-in yet. If the rep approves, you'll sign paperwork for an Equipment Installment Plan ("EIP"). You should see your phone assessed at some abysmal value on the paperwork - this is okay (if you traded in a cheap phone). The phone trade-in amount is included within the $600 promo.

Going to a T-Mo store is important if your trade-in could be deemed questionable. You don't want to risk a trade-in that gets rejected after signing paperwork and mailing the trade-in to Assurant (trade-in processor).

Step 4: That should wrap up the in-store aspect. You need to print your trade-in shipping label if the T-Mo rep didn't provide one at the store. The label can be found by following the link you were e-mailed while signing the paperwork earlier: https://my.t-mobile.com/myphone/checkorder.html

Print the label, package up up your trade-in, and mail it in.

This label includes your trade-in receipt that should state the IMEI/ESN, trade-in item type, and the previously assessed condition.

Step 5: Install Shop Samsung app on the new A71. Login to your existing account or create a new one to claim the $50 of credits and other freebies by 08/14/20. This is the separate "Summer of Galaxy" promo [samsung.com] (which ended 7/31).
