The issue with the eShop is that someone will heavily discount their game like this long enough to get it into the best sellers pages and then crank the price back up. Unless it's actually a good game I don't bother.

I'm all for cheap games, but I feel like when it comes to these eshop games, there should be links posted to gameplay etc. I imagine most of us haven't heard of the majority of these indie games

Sadly this is definitely the case. The makers then of great games who deserve the best seller status have to deeply discount their game to get back into the list.
