I actually called Vari about the crossbar and the updated model doesn't require a crossbar for stability.

The BTOD reviews are from a company that doesn't sell Vari products (only competing brands), so even though they claim to be unbiased you might want to take that with a grain of salt. I ordered a few days ago based on reviews and am not planning to put a 50 lb dumbbell in the center of the desk so hopefully the stability isn't an issue.
The reviewed desk has crossbar support. This one doesn't.

They rate Vari as one of the stable ones. I went with their top recommended Uplift V2 commercial frame.

here's a somewhat unbiased review: https://www.btod.com/blog/2018/03...sk-review/

edit: I guess I should've been more clear when I said "somewhat unbiased". Take their assessments with caution, but I found it useful to see the breakdown of the components within the desk.

This is definitely better than autonomous.ai home version desk. It has two stage column , which means it can raise higher with more power. The assembly is a lot easier in this. It took me two hours to fully assemble autonomous.ai desk. This desk also has extra accessories under the panel. I would buy this if I haven't had autonomous.ai.

But this one is $50 more, I bought my autonomous.ai home version for $400 way back.

In for 2; one 48" with the crossbar and one 60". Expecting to be working from home office at least through the end of the year..

The Monoprice ones seem sturdier and look better without that faux rustic top.

I bought the vari prodesk that had a cross support bar.... I guess the discontinued that model? I just bought it less than a year ago, it cost like $800... Odd.

Thanks OP, I pulled the trigger on one. I like the option of returning in store just in case.

If it was 72" x 30" I would be all over this like a pig in sh!t.

I don't see why not. Just have to find the right height and a way to get to the controller on the treadmill.
