You can go to ebay and buy one for like 4 or 5 bucks if no luck
I have the glass carafe and prefer it to the thermal for simplicity, cleaning, etc. The hot plate has a separate heating mechanism from the boiler and gives you two heat settings. This allows you to set the burner on a lower setting to help prevent scorching, although it doesn't eliminate it completely. If you're taking 30+ min to drink the whole pot you will see some flavor changes. However it's nowhere near the burnt flavor I used to get with my old Bunn.
