Any suggestions for a beginner? I played in high school and college a lot (par 3 only though), but that's been 20 years. I don't know anything about the technology in clubs etc. I'd like to get a used set and maybe get back into it. Maybe even only hit the range for a month or two.

I play about monthly and got into it about 2 years ago. I really like my Rogue Irons. But, i would recommend getting a cheap set (craigslist/ebay/maybe even thrift store) and finding your swing first; once you have the consistency you can get a fitting (Callaway does it for free 2x a year in most areas). Then order a cavity back set. Doing this for me helped me get from a 120 down to about an 85.
I've been trying to get a set of Rogue irons from them for over a week now. There is never any inventory available lately. I have never seen it this bad. Customer service said they update inventory hourly, but I haven't seen much of that.

You might want to get a used 7 iron/ driver and take them to the range for a couple months and then gauge your interest at that point before getting a full set.

How about if I can ever snag a set of irons, I sell you my old Adams set cheap.
First month of lockdown I was able to get myself some apex MB irons, Titleist hybrid. Last month I got myself a gbb epic driver and everything has come in great condition except the Titleist but I hit amazing shots with it so all is forgiven. This site is worth a buy if something catches your eye. Oh they ship out of Texas for me so it like free or cheap overnight shipping if you order early or late enough
