I personally don't need a OS, and I am a BIG believer of high end HD so I was thinking of the Samsung Evo Plus 1 TB ($180) and 32GB of Gskill 3200 DDR4 RAM ($140.00).
To me, right now, I think this is the laptop to beat. I am pretty sure they are using the same screen as their Max17 (very good screen), I think between 320 - 340 Nits.

Not sure about the RP-17, I do like the MSI, don't get me wrong. The fan does get loud when gaming and it gets hot, but you can't beat the Costco warranty...

What's your opinion about the rp17

I haven't used it. But from the specs it has the best display/configuration options of any 4800H laptop. To me it's the only one that doesn't have compromises. Though the omen is supposed to be good too, but I think it's only available in 15".
The 5i and 7i indicate Intel. They also have (or eventually have) Legion 5 and 7 with AMD CPUs. I agree the naming is less than perfect, but that's the reason.
