I prefer wooden pencils but these are actually pretty good. Definitly in for a bunch.

I already have a ton of these, so I'll hold off for now but these are very good pencils. Great deal! I used them throughout high school and college almost exclusively. Long lasting and reliable. The clips tend to break easily, however. They can be refilled if you remove the eraser and insert more 0.7mm lead or you can feed it through the tip if you hold down the clicking mechanism at the same time.

Depends. For drawing I would think you would want a thinner lead like 0.5mm but my 'drawing' experience is drafting so I'm not sure if it translates to art in the same way. As for school work sure, they're as good as any other mechanical pencil. 0.7mm is the standard lead thickness. I personally prefer 0.9mm for writing as it breaks less but this is the typical size.
