Good machine, 2060 Mobile 90w, rarely goes on sale below $1099.

Only thing is the screen is marginal.

Might be a Good deal?...something like this usually runs for $1200-$1500. I ended up getting the Walmart clearance GE63 raider model with 32gb ram, 1tb more hdd, & 144hz screen + thicker bezel & heavier 5.5+lbs (for $799) but overall similar specs. Note: build quality may not be as good as other msi lines.eg. gs lines may be the way to go.eg. Bestbuy had a deal lately.

There was also a better 10th gen Costco 17" version with 16gb ram for $1199 a month ago, for those on the fence and want to keep waiting for another deal.

...Some states do not charge tax for Newegg, so that helps another $50. So I think this is definitely worth $200 more vs the walmart clearanced model & (since that was hard to find at walmart).

...So If you have the money then spend $200 more for the 115w versions & 10th gen i7 to get better overall GPU performance.eg. at Costco if it comes back for that price.
------------
Not a perfect computer if you are new to gaming laptops in how to use them during gaming...eg. since you have to be prepared to work with 90c high temps, sometimes loud fan & undervolting to bring temps down 5-10c, using cool boost etc.
But otherwise these MSI laptops have very good laptop specs for the price.

I'd recommend against it as this line has much worse build quality than the more premium lines, and the display panel is not great. There will be better deals.

Always had good luck with MSI products. Good combo of durability/quality and price with them.

This laptop is one kf the cheapest 2060 laptops when it came out. It came out at $999. Could probably do better

Similar specs, more RAM and 10th gen for $100 more, worth it?

Also more than 1lb more, if you're okay with it.

Pretty good price, just add another 8GB RAM and you are good to go.
However, I would wait for the G14 to drop in price.

Happy GS63VR user here, but I purchased a lesser config (i5/1650) of this same machine for a family member. I used it a bit while setting it up and I really like the keyboard placement and design (no num pad) as well as it's typing feel and overall ergonomics. That machine also stayed nice and cool, but more cores and RTX2060 makes me wonder about this one. It definitely lacks the premium feel of my GS63 and MSI's other lines, however, so if you care about that I'd say you're better off holding out for one of those.

I know my use case is pretty specific but if you want to use it for audio production, DO NOT get a Dell laptop (I have the G5, my brother has the XPS15 with the same issue). There's horrible DPC latency issues related to the acpi.sys (a power management thing that you can't get rid of) that makes working on audio glitchy and difficult.

That said, they're probably fine for most gaming, but you might get some glitches. Overall I'd probably go with something else.
