It's not that crap. Not everyone needs OLED. For a good brand at this size and with Costco warranty, this is very good deal.
Love this TV! Native 120hz, VA Panel, Direct-lit but without Local Dimming, good natural color, great panel uniformity, low input lag, solid HDR performance (only 500-600 nits though) Highly recommended at this price.
This for sure

So how has your experience been with this TV? Any red flags? Thx in advance!
Love this TV, no complain about it considering the price I paid ($1700) last Christmas. The Android OS is fairly snappy except that it reboots itself once or twice a month. Especially when after you watched a lot of 4K contents via the built-in apps. That's a minor annoyance.

Would you choose this or the TCL 75Q825 at Best Buy for $1,499?

Unless size is all that matters I would go TCL 8. I own one and at $1500 its quite impressive. I had to get my first one swapped by TCL for black uniformity issues and the replacement isn't perfect, but I don't think there's a better tv under $2000 in 75 inch class.

RTINGS rating: 7.1/10 5.1/10 rating for movies. EEEEEEK!

But for the price I'm sure you can live it with it!

This must be the most tv you can get for the money.

What does it mean by Sony quality? Does that mean good or bad? I know that there electronic department has not been doing well.

Costco adds an additional year to manufacturers warranty for a total of 2 years. If you have a Costco citi visa that adds an additional 2 years for a total of 4. If you buy a square trade that adds 3 years for a total of 7 years
Thank you 🙂

What kept me from purchasing this TV was the lack of testing/reviews on the 85" model which has a completely different panel that the smaller models.
Every review for the X850G is for the IPS panel with footnotes stating the 85" has a VA panel. Therefore will perform different.

It has already been covered multiple times that the RTINGS review is for the lesser sizes that are IPS panels. The 85" version is a VA panel, so expect better contrast and movie performance from what that review says. FROM RTINGS: The 85" model has a VA panel, and though we haven't tested it, we'd expect it to look much better in a dark room, but have worse viewing angles.

Native 120Hz panel but does not accept any 120Hz signals.

Great big huge mediocre TV. Good brand, good price, good size. Specs.... meh.

This would be cool for a giant TV in the basement or as a huge man cave PC monitor. But if I'm going this big (too big for my house, really, but I'm looking at 70-75") I might want to drop a little more money for some quality improvements.
