It's not that crap. Not everyone needs OLED. For a good brand at this size and with Costco warranty, this is very good deal.

Love this TV! Native 120hz, VA Panel, Direct-lit but without Local Dimming, good natural color, great panel uniformity, low input lag, solid HDR performance (only 500-600 nits though) Highly recommended at this price.

I own this TV and have it in the finished basement. It does well for movie nights and sports, but I noticed green lines when playing Xbox One(specifically COD.). I replaced HDMI and changed to game mode display, but it still appears.

Native 120Hz panel but does not accept any 120Hz signals.
I saw that too. That is... odd.

"The Sony X850G has a native 120Hz panel, but it can't display a 120Hz signal from 1080p or 1440p sources."

So you only get 120hz on 1080p via built in apps? What is the point of that?

How does it compare to UN85TU8000FXZA . I presently have a 75 inch 850E and the Tv seems to be very dull compared to Samsung's

can you see dark scenes well or is it hard to see like normal backlit tvs?

Kinda regretting my 82" Q70T now......
I thought the Samsung Q70T is a better TV overall since its QLED and this is a UHD? How do you like the Q70T?

A great deal and buy it!

I have this and Samsung Q70 86" and the Sony has better color and anti-glare. Since the Sony is in a well-lit, high traffic living room, I could care less about HDR and local dimming.

A common problem with 85"+ TVs, you will not have many options for TV stand (FYI if TV stand is barely wider than TV, the TV still looks very oddly out of place) So either commit to hanging it on the wall or putting it on a mobile cart for 100' TVs, the latter is what I did.
I went to Ikea and purchase 2 x 60 stands of the same kind and pushed them together. So its 120in wide. I also wall mounted.

True....I guess it is a class up, but I also paid quite a bit more for it.

The TV looks great, but there are a couple things that annoy me
1) It won't turn my receiver on automatically, there's a known issue with HDMI CEC that Samsung hasn't fixed (multiple people reporting this)
2) Samsung doesn't support Dolby Vision

I have had the 850F (predecessor to this one) for over 2-years, and still find it to be an excellent value.

As other's mentioned, it's direct lit VA panel, with edge dimming. This is apparent at times on high contrast menus, but I don't find any annoyances during actual use. It is bested by the 900F and 950G of course, but those are more expensive.

I'd venture to say you will not find a better 80" TV at this price. New, with excellent warranty from Costco.

The x90ch is in an entirely different class and worth the price difference.

Does this mean that if I have an Apple TV and stream from it , tv won't accept 120hz ?
