It's not that crap. Not everyone needs OLED. For a good brand at this size and with Costco warranty, this is very good deal.
Love this TV! Native 120hz, VA Panel, Direct-lit but without Local Dimming, good natural color, great panel uniformity, low input lag, solid HDR performance (only 500-600 nits though) Highly recommended at this price.
This for sure

Yikes. 5.8 Movie/5.9 HDR....HARD pass.
If you're speaking to the ratings on Rtings, they didn't review THIS TV but reviewed a different size that has a completely different panel (IPS vs the VA panel this size uses). They stated black levels should be better and viewing angle should be worse, but they actually test that.

I thought XBR was sony's higher end?
Top-tier eventually ends up being label mid-level after a few years.

eg... 2017 Electronic Trade Show.
Sony introduced their new TV line up. The X900F it was label top-tier and priced at $2,500 for 65", $3,500 for 75" and near $5K for the 85" .

Now the model is being referred as mid-tier. Even though its performance is equal to their current top-tier models: 950G and 900H 950H

AGAIN! This has already been covered multiple times. Those numbers are for the IPS sizes. This 85" model is a VA panel not tested by RTINGS. With a higher contrast VA panel, expect movie performance to be much better than those 5.8 / 5.9 ratings.

Ugh Dell doesn't carry for a price match.

Anyone find anything good to PM at Dell similar to this?

can you see dark scenes well or is it hard to see like normal backlit tvs?
It's nice, including dark scenes. I have no complaints with movies

At this size, this price, this brand and OS, good configuration, with 4% total cb (2+2), and 4 years extra warranty without paying any extra penny. Excellent deal!

Did you buy some for the bathrooms too? Gotta have them for the bathroom also, you'll never get off the toilet.

About 3 months ago, this was going around $2500. Extremely slick price. I ended up getting the 950 though, super happy with it

LG is tad better on HDR/Movie watching. But Sony is tad better at TV/Sport watching.
(LG 86" size you get IPS instead of VA in that model) so likely very close performance.

So really Color and HDR content will be it's downfall... Good TV for Cable Box / TV viewing, but Movie Watching/HDR will be weak... Not really future proof. Not
Not true. I have te 850F which is one year older and HDR content looks awesome. Black levels are deep and it gets really bright too.

It's a slick deal, was $1969 back in January. But, I held off on buying this TV after seeing it side-by-side with 900F and 950G at BB. It wasn't even close to 900F's picture quality and motion. But I would take this one over the cheap LG 86".
So the F is better than the G?

No local dimming on this model. Huge negative for a screen of this size.
